Maine Beer Tours will give craft beer lovers from New England, and beyond, the opportunity to learn about the brewing process, taste some of the best beers in the Northeast, and learn about the Maine brewing industry. Where exactly are we going?
Rising Tide Brewing Company is a family-owned brewery specializing in artisinal, hand-crafted ales, brewed in small batches. They strive to create beers that are born from traditional styles, but with a modern, creative sensibility. They’ve got a great new set up in the East Bayside neighborhood in Portland, and have quickly established themselves as a major player in the Maine beer scene.
Maine Craft Distilling uses local Maine ingredients to make their spirits, from Aroostook County barley in their whiskey (50 Stone), to the carrots in their unique botanical gin (Chesuncook). They floor malt their barley in the tradition of the great Scottish distilleries, and run everything through “Frankenstill” until it is just right. As Maine’s first “farm to flask distillery”, Maine Craft Distilling is locally made, locally sourced and locally loved.
The Shipyard Brewing Company has been making award-winning, craft brewed ales in Maine for almost 20 years. They have grown to one of the countries largest craft breweries, ranking in the top 20. Each and every batch of Shipyard beer is hand brewed in small batches, where they use only the finest ingredients, including the top fermenting, multi-strain of yeast from Ringwood Brewery in England.
Conceptually the Urban Farm Fermentory is a fermentation center for food (sauerkraut, pickles, etc.) and beverage (cider and wine) fermentations, and a bee yard for honey production. In reality, it is much more than that. It’s a melting pot for like minded individuals who are looking for a creative, and tasty, outlet. The cider is darn good, too!
