Holy Candy (10.00% abv) – Lively Brewing / Ebenezer’s Brew Pub
Holy Candy is a traditional Belgian Tripel that smells of malty sweetness and a touch of orange. At 10%, it drinks pretty smooth, and definitely tastes the way it smells. I paired it with a burger and fries at Ebenezer’s Brew Pub in Brunswick, and they went very well together. Lively Brewing is the brain child of Chris and Jen Lively, who you may know from Ebenezer’s Pub in Lovell, often considered one of the best beer bars in the world. They took the plunge into brewing, with the help of Michael LaCharite, formerly of Casco Bay Brewing, and introduced their beer via their pub in Brunswick (formerly known as The Lion’s Pride).
We often find ourselves visiting Brunswick, and have really enjoyed everything Lively Brewing has put out to this point. At their Grand Opening last month, they had 15 of their own beers on tap, which is impressive for such a young brewery! If you get the chance, I’d definitely recommend getting to Brunswick and giving them a try. The food is really good, and the beers are solid and true to style. Absolutely worth a visit!
